Goodman, a member of the Daikin Group, recently announced plans to establish a new base in Houston, Texas. The move will consolidate four different locations into one 3.7M sq ft facility that will house customer service, marketing, and manufacturing. According to a Daikin press release, construction is to begin in the middle of 2016. The new facility is expected to increase operational efficiencies and showcase upgraded state-of-the-art production technology.
Daikin acquired Goodman in 2012 to strengthen its residential and light commercial unitary business in North America. Goodman’s core products – conventional ducted units – still hold a substantial market share although the ductless market is enjoying a healthy growth rate. The new facility will allow Daikin to integrate more of their technology into Goodman branded products to stay ahead of energy efficiency standards.
